1. NO DRAMA. PERIOD. EVER.
The creators of this game have been on IRC for a long time, and we’ve all seen fun rooms fall apart due to drama. If you have a problem with an ST ruling, if another player bothers you somehow, if ANYTHING is wrong, you will discuss it in PM with us first, and then have open and immediate communication with the person you’ve got a beef with so we can get the issue settled. If not, there’s a one-strike-and-you’re-out policy, because life is too short and RP is supposed to be fun. There are no exceptions to this rule. You have been warned.
2. KEEP IC AND OOC SEPARATE.
This sorta ties into the no drama rule, but we wanted to give it it's own section. Remember that the In-Character actions of a character don't necessarily reflect the Out Of Character thoughts of the player. In the Fallout world, there's a lot of assholes with no social skills, and they'll say a lot of mean things to your character sometimes. The character is free to get angry about it, but make sure YOU don't take it as a personal attack.
3. REAL LIFE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ROLEPLAY.
No one in this game will ever be penalized for deciding they don’t want to play, and there will be no attendance requirements. You will of course get more XP if you're here for more missions, but this is a game and it’s something we do for fun to relax. If you’d rather relax some other way, feel free. We won’t judge you for it. Also, ST led Missions and Events will be on a when we feel like it basis. A lot of the STs work nights or otherwise have very busy schedules, so this will be mostly freeform non-combat RP. Also, for events, anyone who participates in the event for any length of time will receive the full rewards, even if they just posted a bit in the setup freeform before having to leave or only jumped in for the final round of combat.
4. YOUR CHARACTER IS NOT THE FALLOUT PC.
This is a fairly minor rule, but we feel an important one. The goal of Oasis is to be a slice of Fallout life, not the epic world-saving journeys that the Vault Dweller, Chosen One, Lone Wanderer and Courier went on. Power armor, energy weapons, cybernetic enhancement, ammo-eating Miniguns, and other such things are not something you’re likely to achieve in this setting. Maybe someday you’ll get lucky with a long plotline with the Brotherhood of Steel or something, but we aren’t even planning to include them in the gear charts. We’re Wastelanders here, struggling to survive. The PC in a Fallout game is the guy we tell stories about around the supper table.
